About

Our Response is a local awakening of global compassion.

Our Purpose:

Ignite a community-wide financial response to global poverty, disease, & suffering

Operations

Our Response operates as an offical non-profit 501(c)3 status with a strong, experienced, and passionate leadership team and Board of Directors.  There are no paid staff at Our Response; this is entirely volunteer-based.

Partnership with World Vision

As Our Response leadership sought out potential partners for impact, a key characteristics looked for was a partner who is actively pursuing solutions that would lead to self-sustainability by understanding the root causes and the broader context (political, cultural, economic).  The organizational structure also needed to bridge the communities through relationship rather than simply as a transaction.  Finally, the organization needed to be one of high reputation with deep accountability as to expenses and results.  Over the course of two years, multiple potential partners were considered before choosing World Vision as the best fit for our work and purpose.  More information about World Vision can be found at www.worldvision.org

About the Director

Greetings – my name is Steve Fredlund and it is my honor & burden to be leading this effort in our community; the community I have lived in nearly my entire life.

I have nearly 20 years of experience, primarily in finance roles in the financial services industry.  My experience also includes serving in a leadership capacity in the non-profit sector for about three years.  I hold a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) with an emphasis in Non-Profit Management; I am a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) and a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries (MAAA).  I have done adjunct teaching in finance and investments for two different universities at both the graduate and undergraduate level.  I have also been honored to serve on multiple boards.

I only share my history because I believe my education and prior experiences in business, leadership, teaching, non-profit work, and serving on boards of directors has prepared me for such a daunting venture as this.  Often the pieces of our lives remain a puzzle for many years; perhaps Our Response is how my pieces are fitting together.

I live in the Cambridge-area with my wife (Tracy, 1991) and three kids.  When free time lends itself, I enjoy fishing, walking with my bride, and playing hotbox with my kids.  I fully recognize the blessings of being born an American and am committed to translating my personal bounty into an impact from those who are simply victims of geography.

Thanks for checking it out; I hope you become an active participant and join me for some interesting conversation and revolutionary pursuit of justice.
